University joins consortium to improve doctoral supervision
01 Jul 2024
Major collaboration to support PGR supervisors to transform culture and practice with the support of 20 universities and all UKRI research councils.
The University has been selected to join the Next Generation Research Supervision Project (RSVP), along with consortium partners the University of Salford and Manchester Metropolitan University.
RSVP aims to transform the culture and practice of research supervision with the support of 20 universities and all UKRI research councils, making it one of the largest collaborative, cross-disciplinary research projects into doctoral education ever funded.
It will work to positively transform how doctoral supervision is conducted, recognised and rewarded.
Professor Melissa Westwood, Associate Vice-President for Research, said: "We are delighted that our consortium has been chosen as a partner for the RSVP project. We know from last year’s PGR Voice Survey that our PGR Supervisors are already doing a great job and being part of RSVP will allow us to further support this community by trialing the latest approaches to CPD, and to shape the future of PGR supervision.”

As part of this project, PGR supervisors are being asked to complete a survey.
RSVP, with UKCGE, want to hear about your experiences to help form a national picture of this work and shape the UKCGE’s future support for research supervision.
