Download SafeZone to Stay Safe on Campus

16 May 2024

In an emergency, every second counts. SafeZone is free to download and use – and quickly puts you in touch with on campus first aiders, security, or emergency response teams.

SafeZone app

SafeZone is an app designed to speed up potential response times when you need urgent help, first aid assistance, or wellbeing support. In the event of an emergency, we can also keep you updated via text messages, should you need to be aware of any vital information.

The area that is covered has also been expanded through the Manchester SafeZone Alliance, which has been developed with our colleagues at Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Salford. This has created a wider network of safe spaces across our city, working together to provide faster response times and assistance.

Colleagues and students, irrespective of where they are, can quickly get help, access information, and contact Campus Support and Security – and in emergency situations, will be directly connected to the appropriate services for support.

Ensure that you’re staying safe on campus – download the app now on our SafeZone webpage

How it works

  • The app provides you with the ability to ‘check-in’ when you’re on campus, designed to maximise your safety if you’re working alone.

  • There are individual buttons to raise emergency and first aid alerts, which will only share your location with the response team if you select them.
