Research security update – Export Controls
30 May 2024
UK Strategic Export Controls amended – affected researchers must request export clearance for current and future projects and reassess projects against new and modified codes.
The UK Government has amended the UK Strategic Export Controls List, effective as of 1 April 2024.
The amendment introduces three new dual-use entries relating to:
- quantum technologies,
- cryogenic technologies,
- semiconductor technologies,
- additive manufacturing equipment,
- advanced materials.
There are also additional changes to various UK Military List entries to reflect routine technical updates.
This means that all researchers that work with these emerging technologies or areas where entry codes have been modified must request export clearance for current and future projects.
