Introducing our new safeguarding policy, procedure and training

As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding and promoting the safety and wellbeing of our University community, we have recently updated our Safeguarding Policy to also include adults at risk. This is supported by a procedure which is a practical guide to handling and reporting safeguarding concerns.

To further support this new policy and procedure, we offer a suite of online and in-person safeguarding training for colleagues at the University who come into contact with children under the age of 18 and adults at risk as part of their research work or day-to-day University work.

The training will cover key aspects of safeguarding, including recognising potential risks, understanding appropriate reporting procedures, and fostering a culture of care within our organisation.  The training includes Safeguarding Children, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Child Protection Policy and Guidance, Safeguarding Essentials in the Humanitarian Development Sector and Prevent Training.

To access our safeguarding training courses visit our Safeguarding training and policy documents page on StaffNet.

It’s important that all colleagues understand how to report a safeguarding concern. To familiarise yourself with the procedure please visit Reporting a concern pages on StaffNet.

If you have any questions about the Safeguarding policy, procedure or our training please contact adviceandresponse@manchester.ac.uk.
