The Cockcroft Rutherford Lecture 2024
07 Mar 2024
This year’s flagship lecture will see Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell ‘in conversation’ with Professor Sir Andre Geim, on Tuesday, 12 March 2024
As we celebrate our bicentenary year, it is a time to recognise our key discoveries, pioneering ideas and world firsts.
This year also marks the 20th anniversary of graphene being isolated for the very first time by Professor Sir Andre Geim and Professor Sir Kostya Novoselov, here at Manchester, for which they won the 2010 Nobel Prize for Physics.
We will celebrate this remarkable scientific breakthrough with The Cockcroft Rutherford Lecture on Tuesday, 12 March.
Professor Sir Andre Geim will be 'in conversation' with Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, President and Vice-Chancellor. They will discuss a range of topics including Sir Andre's experiences of isolating graphene and its almost limitless potential. Audience Q&A will follow the discussions.
The lecture will be held at Theatre B, University Place, 6.45pm – 8.30pm on Tuesday, 12 March.
To attend in person, please book your place via Eventbrite.
The event will also be live streamed via the bicentenary website. No booking is required to watch the livestream.
