On 23 October during Manchester Science Festival

Nowgen, a centre for genetics in healthcare, are organising a series of free public events as part of their Faces of Manchester project, which will run throughout Manchester Science Festival.

Facing Up To Addiction: Is there such a thing as an Addictive Personality?
Museum of Science and Industry
Tuesday 23 October, 6.30-9.15pm

Chaired by Quentin Cooper, presenter of BBC Radio 4's 'The Material World', this panel and public discussion explores why it is that some people develop addictions. Discover current views from leading researchers about the genetic, social and psychological factors that influence addictive behaviour. The floor will then be opened to discussion and interactive voting on questions including: Is there such a thing as addictive personality?

• Brian Meah, an ex-addict from Norwich
