Vasant Panchami
14 Feb 2024
Celebrating Vasant Panchami this February
Vasant Panchami meaning the fifth day of Spring, is celebrated by Hindus and Skihs as a festival to mark the arrival of spring and the end of winter. This takes place forty days before the Holi festival. Hindus worship Saraswati Devi, the goddess of wisdom, music and culture as part of this festival.
The colour yellow also signifies the colour yellow of the mustard fields. People celebrate by wearing yellow clothes, and eating yellow themed food such as sweet rice made with saffron
Wishing all our Hindu colleagues and students, a very happy Vasant Panchami.
