More than 80 staff attend active travel breakfast
12 Feb 2024
The event took place at Café 65 in AMBS on Wednesday, 31 January
The breakfast was organised by colleagues in the Faculty of Humanities to encourage staff from across our University to use active travel to get to campus through walking, wheeling, cycling and running.
Active travel can have a positive impact on mental and physical wellbeing, as well as being more environmentally sustainable.
Café 65 was bustling with more than 80 active travellers in hi-vis on the day as they enjoyed a coffee, pastry and topical conversation.
During the breakfast some colleagues were matched up to make future journeys to work together, with some also remarking they had discovered a new cycle route as they joined in with a group, and even been inspired to get back on their bikes after several months.
A raffle was also held with prizes including cycle hire vouchers and Active Manchester monthly passes.
This initiative was funded by the Faculty of Humanities Wellbeing Fund. The event was hosted by Roz Webster and Lynda Rowlinson, with support from colleagues from UoM Sport and Environmental Sustainability.
