Party for the People at Manchester Museum
12 Feb 2024
Manchester Museum is celebrating the first anniversary of its reopening by throwing a party on Sunday, 18 February, 10am-5pm
Party for the People takes place on Sunday, 18 February, 10am-5pm, transforming the Museum’s iconic spaces into one big birthday party.
Visitors queued for hours along Oxford Road when the Museum reopened its doors on 18 February 2023, so this is a way of saying thank you for the support.
Visitors will be greeted by a red carpet on entrance, where they’ll be encouraged to channel their inner star and strike a pose for the photographer, before heading in to get involved in the party games.
At the party you will be able to test your aim by pinning the tail on April the Tenontosaurus, show your most fearsome faces in dinosaur musical statues and unwrap goodies in a giant game of pass the parcel.
There’ll be prizes for the best party hats, so either come prepared or make your own dazzling creation in one of the party hat workshops. But there’ll be a Party Hat Hunt too, where you’ll have a chance to win prizes by finding all the objects wearing party hats throughout the Museum.
And that’s not all. Circus performers and a magician will be on hand to entertain you throughout the day, plus poetry workshops and performance in the South Asia Gallery, amphibian rubbings in the Vivarium and drop-in, family Wuqinxi sessions in the Chinese Culture Gallery. And there’ll be cake too.
The event is free to attend and no ticket is required. Full details can be found at:
