Book now: Social responsibility and civic engagement - an introduction to social inclusion
Following our previous ‘Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement’ staff sessions, we are now taking bookings for our Social Inclusion session which will take place online on 28 February at 12pm.
The session will cover how we are tackling the social inequalities, prejudices and barriers that affect people’s lives and choices locally, nationally and globally. Short presentations will cover our Equity and Merit Scholarship Scheme, the Manchester Access Programme and our inclusive recruitment initiatives.
This session is part of a series of open sessions where you can gain a greater understanding of social responsibility and civic engagement at the University and hear how our social responsibility and civic engagement strategy results in real actions and impact.
A further eight sessions will be run between April 2024 and May 2025, with each one focused on one of our strategic priorities:
• Social responsibility and civic engagement: Prosperous communities (10 April 2024)
• Social responsibility and civic engagement: Environmental sustainability (26 June 2024)
• Public engagement – what, why, how (10 July 2024)
• Introduction to social responsibility and civic engagement: general overview of social responsibility and civic engagement (9 Oct 2024)
• Social responsibility and civic engagement: Cultural engagement (4 December 2024)
• Public engagement – what, why, how (15 Jan 2025)

You may attend as many or as few sessions as you wish.
Who should attend?
These sessions are aimed at all staff and students who are interested in how our University is making a positive difference to society and the environment through delivering on our Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement Plan. The content will be useful to anyone who wishes to find out more about the impact of our social responsibility activities, key people behind its delivery and our plans for the future.
Chaired by senior leaders and delivered by guest speakers, the sessions are delivered from the perspective of managers and beneficiaries to provide real-life examples of our impact. Each session will provide time for questions, audience perspective and feedback. Each session will last approximately 45 minutes.
