Staff network elections: Co-Chair opportunities in BAME and LGBT+ Networks
Our University is proud to have several different staff network groups – two of which are the Black, Asian Minority and Ethnic (BAME) group and ALLOUT (LGBT+) group
Staff network groups are an important voice for our University community. Co-chairs provide:
• Valued insights into the experiences of our colleagues;
• A community for people to come together with the shared aim of progressing equality at our University;
• A shared voice for colleagues to raise concerns with senior leaders;
• Contributions to key policies such as the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategies as well as chartermarks such as the Race Equality Charter and Stonewall;
• Opportunities to network and join social events and celebrations.
Both staff network groups are looking to appoint two new Co-Chairs as due to staff changes the positions have become available. We are also using this as an opportunity to align the co-chair roles to be consistent across all network groups, with three co-chairs in place.
Ideally there should be representation from PS, academic and PGR groups so each of the networks has voices for and from these different communities of staff.
This is a fantastic opportunity to support colleagues belonging to highly engaged, diverse and vibrant networks, whilst helping equality conversations and inform University policies.
Who is eligible to apply?
Any University staff member is eligible to stand for the Co-Chair positions, but only current members of the respective network group can vote in the elections.
Co-chairs have an agreed time allocation of one day per month to help in carrying out duties as well as support from the EDI Directorate, support from an Executive Sponsor, including funding for events and training.
