LGBT+ History Month

Celebrating our LGBT+ community at Manchester
This February, we invite you to attend our LGBT+ Month History programme of events.
The theme for LGBT+ History Month in 2024 is 'Medicine – #UnderTheScope'. It celebrates the contributions of LGBT+ people who have made a difference in medicine and healthcare including doctors, nurses, care assistants and scientists and other healthcare professionals.
Patrick Hackett, Registrar, Secretary and Chief Operating Officer and LGBT+ champion said:
'As we celebrate LGBT+ History Month, and reflect on 200 years of history at Manchester, it serves as a reminder of how much the LGBT+ community has enriched our University, and contributed to our legacy in the academic fields of medical sciences and healthcare.
By celebrating this month, we are reinforcing the importance of equality for the LGBTQ+ community and for everyone who works and studies at the University of Manchester.’
I hope you all enjoy our LGBT+ History programme this year.'
