Registration for our annual event – on Thursday, 29 February – is now open to researchers at all career levels and professional services staff responsible for promoting research
Registration for our University’s annual Research Communications Conference is now open. The event on Thursday, 29 February is open to researchers at all career levels and professional services staff responsible for promoting research.
The event, entitled ‘Promoting your research: Developing the skills you need to reach new audiences’, will offer sessions on:
- Developing communications plans
- Campaign pitches to promote research milestones
- Gaining new audiences both internally and externally
- Raising the profile of your research using digital platforms and the media
- Discovering innovative ways to promote research such as using video or podcasts
Researchers can also take the opportunity to have a professional photograph taken for their online profiles such as Researcher Explorer, conference websites and LinkedIn.
Vice-President for Research, Professor Colette Fagan will also lead a panel debate about the benefits of effectively communicating research. She will be joined by Professor Dame Nicky Cullum, Professor of Nursing in the Division of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work in the School of Health Sciences; Duncan Shaw, Professor of Operational Research and Critical Systems at Alliance Manchester Business School and Honorary Professor in the Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute; Marco Domingos, Senior Lecturer and Bioprinting Technology Platform Lead at the Royce Institute; and Joanne D’Angelo, Research Comms Manager and Campaign Lead at the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

The event is being held at the Core Technology Facility, Grafton Street, Manchester, and starts at 9.30am (registration opens at 9am).
Please sign up for the sessions that are most relevant to you, whether that’s one session in the morning or the full day. We ask that for PS staff, only 1 member per team attends the conference.
