Wendy Gallagher from The Manchester Museum and judge for the Distinguished Achievement Awards explains why you should nominate a colleague and what the judges are looking for

Last year, Wendy was invited to be a judge for the Distinguished Achievement Awards for the first time. "I was quite excited" Wendy says, "I generally write the nominations for different people but i've never had the chance to be a judge."

Wendy Gallagher is the Head of Civic Engagement and Education at the Manchester Museum and is a judge in the Professional Services and Cultural Institutions category.

About the experience of judging last year, Wendy said: “The range of nominations was phenomenal - it was quite difficult to choose who you should award. What I really enjoyed was to read some of the nominations for those people that can be overlooked.”

Nominations for the 2024 Distinguished Achievement Awards close on Friday 2 February, so there is still plenty of time to make your nomination. “When you’re thinking about nominating someone for a Distinguished Achievement Award, do try and think outside of the box" Wendy says. "Think about those people who give great contributions but perhaps aren’t always acknowledged."

Watch the short video above to hear from Wendy on why you should make a nomination and what the judges are looking for.
