Library update: new resource, funding opportunity, plus OA monograph competition

19 Dec 2023

Find out more about a new My Learning Essentials Resource, UKRI funding now open, and a reminder that the Open Access monograph competition 2023/24 closes in January

Strategies for Effective Learning

Designed to help students engage with blended learning, the resource includes tips and techniques to support studying strategically and checking understanding.

The Library has a new My Learning Essentials (MLE) resource, Strategies for Effective Learning

The resource has been collaboratively created by the Library’s Student and eLearning Teams, the Institute of Teaching & Learning, and the Flexible Learning Programme, with input from colleagues from across the university.

As with all MLE resources, support is available from the Library to embed this resource within your online space by completing our online form. Please consider including this resource with other introductory information in programme handbooks or equivalent.

We would be grateful to hear your feedback about what is or what would be useful to inform the further development of this and other resources in the future via our feedback form

Open Access for long-form outputs: application window for UKRI funding now open

UKRI is introducing a new Open Access policy for long-form outputs (monographs, chapters and edited collections) which will take effect from the January 2024.

In conjunction with the new policy, UKRI has announced that approximately £3.5 million will be made available to support Open Access for long-form outputs via a national ring-fenced fund.

UKRI is now accepting applications to access this fund.

Open Access monograph competition 2023/24

Unfunded monograph authors have until Friday, 26 January 2024 to enter the Library’s competition to win Open Access funding, and we welcome applications from any University faculty for the Library’s Open Access (OA) monograph competition, as long as they will soon be publishing a monograph or published one on or after 1 October 2022 – this includes eligible entries from last year’s competition.
