Organising your festive celebrations: what you need to know

20 Nov 2023

It’s the time of year when many colleagues plan their team celebrations

The upcoming festive celebrations and marking the end of the year is a time when many of us come together. Whether it’s a festive lunch, or a more informal office gathering, here’s what you need to know.

On-campus: Booking via Hospitality on Campus

Our team can help you with your team celebrations. The new Beehive restaurant in Oddfellows Hall provides a perfect setting for Christmas celebrations with a festive menu specially designed by our chefs for your group to enjoy.  This includes a two-course lunch with tea, coffee or mulled wine and a mince pie.

If you would like to enjoy a celebration with your team in your building or office space, we are delivering a seasonal hospitality menu, which is available for delivery across campus.

Funding your celebrations

Our message from Director of People and Organisational Development Adele MacKinlay details our University contribution to celebrations and how they should be funded from local budgets.

Do not pay venues with the use of vouchers. Deposits and payments should be made using your purchasing card.

The overall costs must comply to the £20 per person limit, and must be coded to IE 4032.

Inclusive celebrations

While for many of us, this is an enjoyable time of year with various winter and religious festivals taking place, for colleagues with disabilities, health conditions or caring responsibilities, or those of no or different faiths, it can feel a time when they are forgotten or not considered.

Our EDI team has put together some guidance which can help you when organising your celebrations.
