This fascinating discussion, in response to the Museum's Myths about Race exhibition, explores historical and contemporary racism as seen through museum practices. Speakers from within the museum sector and grass roots community organisations will debate:

  • Can a museum be racist even if the people who work there are not?
  • How are museums to address the material legacies of prejudice?
  • What is racism today?
  • What interests does racism serve?

It is topical and relevant during the bicentenary of the slave trade act, and to living in multi-cultural and multi-racial Britain today.
