Discussions on Black History Month, flexible working, gender equity and much more
The Women@Manchester Network are happy to announce a fantastic schedule of online events for autumn.
Black History Month Celebration with Women@Manchester
Monday, 30 October
Online, 3 – 4pm
Our speakers will include Cianne Jones from the Women’s Higher Education Network (WHEN) who leads the trailblazing 100 Black Women Professors Now programme. Cianne will share insights into her career journey, personal narratives, and experiences in supporting women's communities;
Dr Cecilia Medupin also shares her story as an African woman with roots in Nigeria, West Africa and, how she has survived as a postgraduate student in Manchester, worked in the UK industry, regulation and, how she is coping in academia. Cecilia will share some advice on what we must all imbibe as women to excel in any environment including academia.
We are also privileged to have Prof. Dawn Edge, our only Black Female Professor and University Academic Lead for Race, Religion and Belief co-chairing this enlightening session with us.
Women@Manchester Seminar with Jill Rubery: Flexible working and gender equity
Tuesday, 21 November
Online, 11am – 12pm
Jill Rubery is a Professor of Comparative Employment Systems, and Executive Director of the Work and Equalities Institute at Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester
In this session she will discuss her research on Flexible Working and Gender Equity following the recent government ruling on requesting flexible working from day one of employment.
Women@Manchester champions the ‘Aurora’ Women’s Leadership Programme
Monday, 4 December
2pm – 3pm
On this special occasion, Women@Manchester is delighted to host esteemed Aurora alumni who will share their unique career paths and life experiences.
The University Aurora Champion Prof Rachel Cowen will share the impact of Aurora at Manchester and launch the open call for the next cohort of Aurora participants.
Come along and immerse yourself in diverse career and leadership narratives, engage with the speakers through a Q&A session and find out how you could be an Aurora 2024 participant.
