On-campus student-led health screening clinics

27 Oct 2023

Open to all staff and students

Medical professional checking heart rate

As part of the pharmacy undergraduate curriculum, Year 3 pharmacy students will be running health screening clinics at convenient locations across campus. These clinics are free and open to all staff and students.

The health screening check will involve measuring your blood pressure, height and weight. These measurements are then used to find out your heart age using an NHS evidence-based tool and your diabetes risk using the Diabetes UK ' Know Your Risk' tool. The students will then go through these outcomes with you.

The health screening clinics will run 1:30pm-3:30pm on the dates specified below. There is no need to book – just pop over to one of these locations across campus:

Semester 1:

  • Wednesday, 8 November 2023 - Wellbeing room G.65 Simon Building
  • Wednesday, 15  November 2023 - MEC 3A.012

Semester 2:

  • Wednesday, 7 February 2024 - Wellbeing room G.65 Simon Building
  • Wednesday, 28 February 2024 - MEC 3A.012

  • Wednesday, 17 April 2-24 - Wellbeing room G.65 Simon Building

Evaluation of student-led health screening clinics – opportunity to participate in research study

We would like to evaluate the user experience of these student-led health screening clinics. This study will be undertaken by Harsha Parmar, Sarah Knighton and their research team.

The study is entitled ‘Student-Led Health Screening Evaluation’ and aims to explore your views after attending the student-led health screening clinic. The findings of this study will help us to develop our pharmacy teaching and learning strategy for the future pharmacy workforce.

The participant information sheet gives an outline of the study. Please contact one of us via email if you have any questions (harsha.parmar@manchester.ac.uk or  sarah.knighton@manchester.ac.uk). By attending the health screening clinic you are under no obligation to participate in this study and participation is completely voluntary.
