Our social responsibility newsletter has been relaunched with a new and engaging introduction from our Director for Social Responsibility, Julian Skyrme.
This month’s newsletter is jam-packed with stories of our impact. Here are five examples of what we’ve been up to over the last month.
We were proud to host a delegation at the Manchester Museum for the unconditional return of 174 cultural heritage items to the Aboriginal Anindilyakwa community, helping to create a more socially responsible future for our museum based on inclusivity, imagination, and care.
We’ve been engaging with local communities as part of the public consultation for ID Manchester – our new joint venture to create an innovation district in the heart of the city.
Our John Rylands Research Institute and Library has recently unveiled a new exhibition curated by our postgraduate students, covering the connections of our early benefactors and the transatlantic slave trade.
We welcomed over 50 local businesses and enterprises to a major event on campus focused on social responsibility in partnership with Business in the Community (BITC).
And finally, we were delighted that two of our students, Ethan Williams and Binham Seyoum, were awarded Freshfields Stephen Lawrence Scholarships, which support exceptionally talented Black men to succeed in careers in corporate law.
