Nominate your colleagues for a Distinguished Achievement Award 2024

29 Sep 2023

This is your opportunity to recognise your colleagues for making an outstanding contribution to our University

Distinguished Achievement Awards 2023

Do you know a colleague or team who has made an outstanding contribution to our University? Are they always willing to put in that bit extra to get a job done? Or do they always provide an excellent service or go out of their way to help someone or solve a problem?

This is your opportunity to recognise them by putting them forward for a President’s Distinguished Achievement Award 2024, specifically in the Professional Services and Cultural Institutions’ category.

About the Distinguished Achievement Awards 2024

These annual awards recognise the outstanding work of colleagues and teams across the University.

Award categories include Professional Services and Cultural Institutions’ individuals and teams of the year. Other categories are co-ordinated by Faculties – these include awards for Researchers, Postgraduate Researchers, Postgraduate Taught students, Undergraduate students and Teachers of the year.

There is also a ‘General’ category for when other categories are not appropriate.

Patrick Hackett, Registrar, Secretary and Chief Operating Officer, said of the awards: “I’m grateful every day for the efforts of our staff for their outstanding performances and significant contributions to the University. The nominations we receive are often inspirational, and it can be incredibly difficult to rank such incredible contributions.

“The nominations for this year’s awards are now open so please take the time to get your vote in. Don’t think that nominations can only be for those that have undertaken a new or special project - teams or individuals carrying out any role, at any grade, and within any background can be considered.

“It doesn’t take long to fill out the form and taking the time to do this will go a long way to making people realise their efforts do not go unnoticed. Thank you in advance for either putting a case forward yourself or for helping to spread the word about the 2024 Distinguished Achievement Awards.”

How to nominate

Professional Services and Cultural Institutions’ category

For the Professional Services and Cultural Institutions’ category there are three individual awards and two team awards.

If you know someone in Professional Services (PS), Museum, Gallery or at the Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre, nominate an individual or nominate a team by filling out the appropriate form. The forms give you guidance on how to complete it, details of who you can approach for help and the criteria against which the nominees will be judged.

General category of the Distinguished Achievement Awards

The General category is to be used only on very rare occasions when the other categories of awards are not appropriate. In such cases a member or staff, a student, lay member of the Board of Governors or close affiliate of the University can be nominated. The General category is designed to recognise sustained and/or exceptional service to the University which is over and above what it normally expected of someone as part of their job, role or course.
