Can you help us give care leavers a wonderful Christmas Day?
The Manchester Christmas Dinner is a movement started here in Manchester 10 years ago by Lemn Sissay, OBE. Christmas Dinners now happens in many cities and towns across the country. It delivers a Christmas Day for Care Leavers aged 18 to 25 , who would be on their own on Christmas Day, creating Magic and Memories.
The University has been the venue for The Manchester Christmas Dinner for a number of years now. Many staff get involved in a variety of ways:
- Being members of the steering group that organises the day
- Crafting Christmas stockings and decorations
- Helping decorate the venue
- Wrapping presents
- Driving to our guests on Christmas Eve delivering pre-Christmas goodies
- Being Hosts on Christmas Day
- Cooking Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day
- Helping to clear down post-Christmas
- Buying gifts from our wish list of presents
If you would like to be a volunteer or know anyone to refer as a guest please email mcr@thechristmasdinner.org.uk
