Further offer to mitigate industrial action

As part of continuing work with representatives from our local branch of the University and College Union (UMUCU) to find an equitable and negotiated solution, SLT has today offered a 45% reimbursement of deductions made to those taking part in the recent Marking and Assessment Boycott (MAB), an increase from last week’s offer of 33%. As we announced yesterday, we have also extended the deadline for marking and assessment completion to 13 October 2023.

As we have said previously, in return we would like to see an end to the further eight days of planned strike action and a commitment from colleagues to complete outstanding marking and assessment in this timeframe.

We very much hope that this proposal will be accepted by members in this afternoon’s UMUCU meeting to ensure a welcoming environment for our returning and new students in the days and weeks ahead.
