Restoring remote access (VPN) for managed devices
11 Sep 2023
An update on the phased restoration of remote access to our internal networks
Update 2: Monday 11 September, 2.25pm
VPN connectivity issues for staff and postgraduate researchers off campus using managed devices are largely resolved, however if you are having connectivity problems either on or off campus, please first read our troubleshooting guidance and if that doesn't help, contact the IT Support Centre.
Update 1: Monday 11 September, 10am
We’re investigating reports of users having issues when trying to use the GlobalProtect VPN service.
If possible, before attempting to use the VPN for remote access please plan to test it when you are on campus and connected to eduroam. If you are on campus please do follow the instructions in the above guidance document and ensure you have updated your GlobalProtect software to the latest version and applied any other software updates that your computer is recommending.
If you find you have no internet on your computer as a result of trying to use the VPN, then disconnecting from the VPN may resolve this. On a managed Windows device you can do this by going to the GlobalProtect icon in your system tray, right clicking it, and choosing the disconnect option.
