Professor Colette Fagan, Vice-President for Research, gives an update on the news that the UK will be rejoining Horizon Europe
As was widely reported in the media overnight, we have had confirmation this morning of the fantastic news that the UK is rejoining the EU’s £85 billion science research programme, Horizon Europe.
Long anticipated, this agreement will be a major boost for our world-leading research and our researchers. The University of Manchester is a research powerhouse and is ranked first in Europe and second in the world for social and environmental impact (Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2023).
As Horizon funds research projects tackling a range of fundamental issues from climate change and food & energy security to solving major health challenges, association will inevitably bring huge wider benefits to UK society and the economy as a whole.
We are absolutely delighted at this news and the benefits it will bring to the UK and UK research.
Colette Fagan
