Take part in the Rainbow Race 2023

21 Aug 2023

The Rainbow Race 2023, in support of Tommy's, is returning on 24 September 2023 for the third consecutive year

Once again staff at Tommy's Stillbirth Research Centre, hosted by the Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre, FBMH, are hosting a fun run for families to come together and raise money to support the amazing work of Tommy's in supporting parents and funding research into pregnancy problems, particularly those leading to stillbirth. This event celebrates the successes of the Rainbow clinic and the rainbow babies born as a result.

The Manchester Rainbow Clinic, headed by Professor Alex Heazell, is a dedicated antenatal clinic providing care for families during, and conducting research about, pregnancy after stillbirth. It was the first of its kind and has now been established in more than 12 UK locations and even in New York. It has been shown to reduce the incidence of preterm and low birth weight births following prior stillbirth, and to reduce anxiety and postnatal depression among service users.

Everyone is welcome to join this free event, which has been a great success in recent years. There will be face painting, glitter tattoos, sweet treats and hot drinks available.

Registration is free and fundraising for Tommy's is optional.

Children are welcome to bring scooters/bikes to help tired legs make it around the 1km course; the course is suitable for prams and wheelchairs also. Rainbow colours positively encouraged! All young participants will receive a certificate and prize token.

We look forward to welcoming you, your family and friends to this event.
