NSS responses raise over £12k for local charities

16 Aug 2023

Thanks to increased participation in this year’s National Student Survey (NSS), we’re pleased to share that we have raised £12,056 for local charities

For each survey response submitted, the University pledged a £2 charitable donation, reaffirming our commitment to giving back to the local community.

The money will be shared across four deserving local charities – The University of Manchester Cost of Living Support Fund, Refugee Women Connect, Greater Together Manchester, and Jump Space. These organisations are aligned to our values and/or have a connection with the University through our volunteering activities or The Students’ Union.

This year, our university improved its engagement rate by 12%, with 74% of final year undergraduate students completing the survey, compared with 62% last year.

This increased response rate this year is 3% above the English sector average.

A massive thank you to all students who took the time to complete the survey and to all staff who helped to promote it – your efforts have helped raise this generous amount that will help to improve people’s lives in the local community.
