Update on pay spine changes: Grades 1 and 2
07 Aug 2023
We’re pleased to announce that we’ve made changes to the first two grades of the pay spine
The increases for Grades 1 and 2 will be implemented in August 2023, so will be paid from this month’s salary.
This change also ensures that we continue to align to our Real Living Wage commitments.
What has changed?
The benefits of the changes are:
- Increase our minimal salary appointment within Grade 1 roles to point 7 (from point 3)
- Through annual incremental colleagues paid Grade 1 can now progress to point 9 (rather than point 7) on the normal incremental scale for Grade 1
- Those paid on the previous contribution point of Grade 1 (point 8) will move to point 9
- The change opens up an opportunity for those in Grade 1 on point 9 nominated for a Rewarding Exceptional Performance award for progression to the new contribution point of Grade 1, at point 10.
- Similarly, the change benefits Grade 2 colleagues in increasing the starting point in the grade from point 8 to point 10 with immediate effect.
You can view the changes and find out how this affects you on our Pay Scales page.
Note for managers
Please ensure that you make your teams aware of these changes, especially for those colleagues who do not have PC access at work.
Pay award 2023-24
These changes are separate to the nationally negotiated pay award 2023-24, which was announced on StaffNet earlier this year. However, this has been included on our updated Pay Scales page.
