University wins Greater Manchester Bike Month Challenge
02 Aug 2023
During the fourth and final week of the Bike Month Challenge, our University colleagues leapfrogged Trafford Council to clinch top place in the regional cycling challenge by riding more than 19,500 miles during May
More than 150 colleagues joined the annual Bike Month Challenge, organised by Love to Ride, that pits workplaces across Greater Manchester against each other in a bit of friendly competition. Participation is key – the organisations that get the highest percentage of their staff riding bikes top the leaderboards.
“Cycling to work is a powerful tool to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution, support a healthy University workforce and save money, among many other benefits,” said Julia Durkan, our Environmental Sustainability Manager.
“It’s also an opportunity to demonstrate how we are taking action to implement our new Environmental Sustainability Strategy – Our Sustainable Future; we are committed to reducing the impact of travel and transport decisions on people and the environment.”
Congratulations to everyone who took part!
