Digital inclusion: how to make your content inclusive

28 Jul 2023

Find out more about digital inclusion, and how to get further advice and support

Our commitment to inclusivity is deeply engrained in our values and reflected in our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy. While it’s easy to recognise how this relates to our physical spaces, we also need to understand how we uphold these values online.

If you are involved in everyday tasks like writing documents, sending emails and updating webpages, you may be inadvertently excluding people from accessing vital information if it’s not made accessible to them. Knowing how to make your online content inclusive is important to us as a University, as well as being a legal requirement.

These pages on digital inclusion on StaffNet are a great place to start to find out more about digital inclusion, and how you can get further support.

Digital teams around the University are running drop-in sessions over the next couple of months so you can come and ask questions about areas of your work that you feel could be more inclusive. Sessions will be in-person in the Library and Engineering Building A, and online, and a schedule of these can be found on the StaffNet page above along with the contact details of your local digital team.

Also look out for an upcoming training module in Blackboard which will be available in the new academic year.
