Course unit selection opens week of 21 August
26 Jul 2023
This year students will complete course unit selection through a new, user-friendly online system
Course unit selection for returning students will open in week commencing 21 August. Schools will notify students of the open date and time for their programme.
Please note the Campus Solutions Student System will be unavailable while technical work to support this takes place, on Wednesday, 2 and Thursday, 3 August.
The new system is more user-friendly, helping them choose the right combination of units:
- Only shows units that they’re eligible to take.
- Shows how many and which units they need to fulfil their course requirements.
- Highlights any clashes between units.
- Stops them choosing too many units and warns if they’ve not selected enough.
This should significantly reduce time and effort for colleagues, who will not have to manually check and validate units for each student. It should also reduce the volume of enquiries from students needing technical help.
Our student support website has further information and guides for the new system, and contact information if students have any questions or problems.
If a student’s upcoming year does not have unit choices, they do not need to do anything.
This new system is being delivered as part of our Student Experience Programme. Thanks to all the programme, Faculty and School colleagues who have spent months and years preparing for this to go live.
Dates for course unit selection
- Wednesday, 2 August, 12pm: Downtime begins for Campus Solutions, so we can complete technical work on the new course unit selection system. We aim to have the system back up for staff users by 4.30pm the same day, and for students from 12pm on Thursday, 3 August.
- Week of 21 August: Course unit selection opens for returning students. Different programmes and years will open at different times throughout that week, to reduce the load on our technical systems.
- September: Course unit selection opens for new students.
