New status for Mimas

National data centre based in Faculty of Humanities from August 2007
From August 2007, Mimas has been established as a separate interdisciplinary centre of excellence based within the Faculty of Humanities at The University of Manchester.
Mimas is a JISC and ESRC funded national data centre providing the UK Higher Education, Further Education and research community with direct access to resource discovery tools, research data and learning (and teaching) materials and electronic journals (including JSTOR and UK PubMed Central), covering a wide range of subject areas. It provides University staff and students with direct access to, and support for, the Archives Hub, Copac, Intute, ISI Web of Knowledge, Zetoc, Census aggregate statistics, ESDS International macro-economic data, Satellite images, Crossfire and Jorum.
Mimas is also engaged in research and development, particularly in the areas of e-Science, electronic publishing, metadata standards, web standards, digital preservation and access management.
