Are you a Teams Voice user? It is time to recycle your old phone handset

13 Jun 2023

If your phone number has been migrated to Microsoft Teams Voice and you have an old telephone handset that is now out of use, we need you to drop off your phone equipment at one of our four recycling locations

Teams Voice

Where can I find a Teams Voice recycling location on campus?

Telephone handset recycling collection cages can be found at the following locations across campus, which you can view on our handy map.

  • Arthur Lewis Building. Located near the main reception/foyer on the left-hand side, (building 36 on the above map).
  • Ellen Wilkinson Building. Located near the entrance opposite the Samuel Alexander building, to the left-hand side, (building 77 on the above map).
  • Kilburn Building. Located in the side entrance loading bay, opposite University Place, (building 39 on the above map).
  • Stopford Building. Located near the entrance podium, near the turnstiles, (building 79 on the above map).

What items can I recycle?

Items that you can dispose of in the External Calling (Teams Voice) recycling locations include phone handsets that are now out of use and any associated phone cabling. For photo examples of items that you will be able to drop off for recycling, please view our recycling your phone equipment section, on our Teams and Teams Voice SharePoint site.

What will happen to my old phone equipment?

All the old telephone waste dropped off will be sent for electrical waste recycling, and none will go to landfill. The Directorate of Estates and Facilities have the following electrical waste recycling video to illustrate the process.

I have not yet been migrated, when will I receive Teams Voice?

The project is delivering the rollout across the University in gradual stages, (called sprints) which are based on phone number order. If you do not currently have a phone number, are based in the UK, and have a relevant staff Microsoft 365 (M365) licence, you will also be included within the rollout and assigned a number within one of the sprints.

Our next sprint will take place in late July and will involve moving a further 4,000 numbers across. The remaining phone numbers will be moved later in the year, with dates to be confirmed.

How do I contact the project?
