MEC Showcase: Supporting Entrepreneurship Education across the Disciplines

13 Jun 2023

The Masood Entrepreneurship Centre (MEC) would like to invite programme administrators (both senior and junior), as well as academics and PS colleagues, to join this session

AMBS event

The lunch and talk will take place on Thursday, 29 June from 12pm to 4pm (arrive from 12pm for seating, 12:20 start) in the Mill Restaurant, Alliance Manchester Business School.

  • Are you keen to provide students with the best possible university experience?
  • Do you want to understand how entrepreneurship can drive student recruitment and increase numbers on taught programmes?
  • Do you want to ensure students develop the skills and mindset to thrive beyond their time university and are equipped to secure the best jobs or create a successful business venture?

For over twenty years, the Masood Entrepreneurship Centre (MEC) has been empowering the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs. Our mission is to make entrepreneurship education accessible to all, across all subjects and at all levels, to develop entrepreneurial capacities and mind-sets in our students, staff, and recent graduates.

Within our University's Strategic Plan, under the theme of Innovation, we actively work towards Priority Five: Enterprise through knowledge and commercialisation, Action Two: increasing the reach of student entrepreneurship. Working towards the goal of 20% of students taking an optional entrepreneurship unit in the next 3-5 years and increasing student start-up numbers, development of a support network through our Academic and PS colleagues across all Schools is of critical importance to us. We hope to build a 'community of interest' who can improve the visibility and awareness of entrepreneurship activities across campus so that all students can access MEC teaching and extra-curricular programmes.

Join us for a casual hot fork buffet lunch, followed by talks and discussions on how we can support the entrepreneurship and employability agenda whilst building students confidence to launch start-up ventures and take control of their futures.
