IT Strategic Leadership Team appointments

07 Jun 2023

An update from PJ Hemmaway, Director of IT, on recent senior appointments in IT Services

I have taken the opportunity to make some adjustments to the IT Services directorate structure, including expanding our strategic leadership team. I believe these changes will help IT Services to be more engaged across the University and give us a structure and a leadership team that is well resourced and easier to navigate. It will put us in a better position to develop our future 2030 IT strategy for the University, which we plan to release early 2024.

New IT leadership team

In addition to myself as IT Director, the IT Strategic Leadership Team (ITSLT) is now made up of several Associate Director roles, plus the role of Chief Information Security Officer. We now have seven divisions (previously it was five), each led by a member of the ITSLT.

  • Applications, Data and Strategy: Adam Grant, Associate Director – Applications, Data and Strategy
  • Directorate Services: Jenna Covell (starts July 2023), Associate Director – Governance, Risk, Compliance and Administration
  • Information Security, Identity and Access Management: Heather Lowrie – Chief Information Security Officer
  • IT Service Management: Krista Robbie (Interim), Associate Director – IT Service Management
  • Research IT: Rob Haines, Associate Director – Research IT
  • Teaching, Learning and Students IT: Sharon Newton, Associate Director – Teaching, Learning and Students IT
  • Technology: Alex Goffe (starts July 2023), Associate Director – Technology

Lorraine Beard, Associate Director – Research and Digital Horizons for the Library, continues to be a member of the IT Strategic Leadership Team. In addition, Caroline Hargreaves, who already works in IT Services, will take on the role of Associate Director – Faculty, on a six month secondment from July. This new role will help to strengthen the relationship between IT Services and the Faculties.

A chart showing the new IT leadership structure is available, and the information on the IT Services website has been updated.
