Government call for evidence: 'major conditions' strategy
02 Jun 2023
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has issued a call for evidence on a number of health conditions
As our University develops its coordination of research around health inequalities, colleagues in Policy@Manchester are working to ensure that our research and recommendations are reaching the decision makers who can make a difference to health outcomes.
Consultations and calls for evidence issued by Parliament and Government are one way in which academic evidence can be fed in to the policymaking process.
The government has recently launched a call for evidence to help shape policies around how to prevent, diagnose, treat and manage the six major groups of health conditions that most affect the population in England:
- cancer
- cardiovascular disease (stroke, diabetes)
- chronic respiratory disease
- dementia
- mental ill health
- musculoskeletal disorders
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is interested in suggestions on how to improve outcomes for people suffering; the quickest impactful interventions; and tackling disparities in health outcomes.
If you would consider submitting evidence to this call, either individually, or as part of a coordinated University-wide response, please contact Callum Wood with an indication of your interest by 21 June. Callum will be able to advise on submissions and further policy-related opportunities to engage on these issues.
