Reduced rate membership of Manchester International Festival 2023

24 May 2023

Enjoy a range of Festival benefits as part of the University’s partnership with MIF23 – Thursday, 29 June to Sunday, 16 July

Manchester International Festival 2023 launches on Thursday, 29 June, bringing artists from all over the world to use the city as their inspiration and canvas – and inviting the people of Greater Manchester to take part.

Working with partners regionally and across the globe, the wide-ranging programme of original new work by artists from around the world will take place in venues and spaces throughout the city, including our University’s cultural institutions and at Factory International’s much-anticipated new home, which opens its doors for the first time for the Festival.

Maxine Peake, Sarah Frankcom and Imogen Knight will adapt They, Kay Dick’s dystopian masterpiece, with a live, afterhours performance by Peake inside the iconic John Rylands Library.

MIF23 will feature a world premiere of This entry – a new work by artist Tino Sehgal, made with the involvement of Juan Mata and presented at the National Football Museum (29 June – 5 July) and our Whitworth art gallery (7 – 16 July).

Also at the Whitworth, Economics the Blockbuster: It’s Not Business As Usual (30 June – 22 October) presents a selection of extraordinary art projects that each operate as real-world economic systems.

Coming to the Manchester Museum, Sonics, stories and scenes of the Diaspora (1 July), is a day-long takeover presented by SEEN Magazine and Manchester Museum in the ground-breaking new South Asia Gallery, which celebrates the sounds of global majority and South Asian diaspora artists.

Factory International have also just announced their winter family show 'Lost and Found' based on the book by Oliver Jeffers, which you can book tickets for via priority access from 24 May until 26 May, after which the show will become available to book for everyone.

This magical stage show of Oliver Jeffers’ Lost and Found has been adapted by renowned children’s TV and theatre producer Will Brenton. Original music composed by Gruff Rhys – who many will know as the guitarist and vocalist of Super Furry Animals as well as for his award-winning film and theatre scores – adds another layer to this moving story.
