Manchester students reach Undergraduate of the Year Awards finals
03 May 2023
Three of our students have reached the finals of the prestigious targetjobs Undergraduate of the Year Awards – an awards ceremony which identifies and celebrates the UK’s best undergraduates
Now in its fourteenth year, this year had record-breaking engagement, meaning the competition was its fiercest yet. From over 4,700 applications, the following students reached the finals in London:
- Esther Akinlosotu, Modern History with Economics - Black Heritage
- Erin Lynch, Politics and Modern History - Excellence through Adversity
- Millicent Jones, Chemistry - Celebrating Neurodiverse Talent
All entrants were required to complete an application, an online assessment with situational, numerical, and inductive reasoning tests devised by SHL and a range of interview stages, so reaching the final is a monumental achievement for all our finalists.
Erin Lynch said: “Reaching the finals in the Undergraduates of the Year Awards has provided me with the opportunity to talk about my skills and talents in a real assessment centre, something which is going to be extremely helpful next year when I will be applying for graduate roles.”
The awards hosted thirteen different categories partnered by leading employers and professional bodies including AECOM, AON, BT Group, Clifford Chance, Clyde and Co, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Glencore, HSBC, Ocado Group, Rolls-Royce, Sky and Skyscanner.
“Although I didn't win the competition, I was lucky enough to receive an offer from Rolls-Royce to join them for a summer internship. As well as this, I had the opportunity to talk with top businesses and other like-minded students from around the UK which enhanced my networking and communication skills."
