Furniture reuse open day: North Campus

If you're looking for some home office items, come along to see what's available on Wednesday, 15 March

With the doors to the majority of North Campus buildings now closed and final clearance operations underway, we’ve identified a variety of items of furniture which are in good condition and full working order.

In line with our University’s sustainability goals, we’d like to find a new home for these items and will be holding a furniture reuse open day on Wednesday, 15 March for colleagues and students.

What furniture is available

There’s hundreds of items ready to take away, including:

  • Desks and tables;
  • Chairs (including desk chairs, meeting room chairs, tub chairs);
  • Storage items (including pedestals, book cases and cabinets);
  • Ergonomic furniture (including chairs and height-adjustable desks);
  • Sofas;
  • Wardrobes.

How it will work

The Great Hall in C Floor, Sackville Street Building will be transformed into our furniture show room and open to all colleagues and students on a drop-in basis, between 9:30am – 4:30pm on Wednesday, 15 March. Please note access is via the Main Entrance on Granby Row only and make sure you bring your staff ID card with you, as you may be asked to provide this upon entry.

Items are available on a first-come, first-served basis – if you see something you like, simply let one of the Team members managing the open day know and, provided it’s still available, we’ll take your details and reserve this for you. For ease, we’ll be marking which items have been reserved as we go along so you know what’s still up for grabs.

If the item is light in weight and portable (e.g. wheeled office chairs), you’ll be able to take this away with you on the day.

If an item is heavier and requires a vehicle to take it away (e.g. desks, sofas) we’ll reserve this and email you to arrange a collection slot during the times below, providing vehicle access into Granby Row for your car or a taxi:

  • Saturday, 18 March, 9:30am – 12:30pm
  • Thursday, 23 March, 8:30am – 4:30pm
  • Friday, 24 March, 8:30am – 3:00pm

It is your responsibility to arrange vehicle access to collect any heavier items. Items aren’t limited per colleague but can’t be returned once you’ve taken it away.
