Manchester University Press and The Mill launch new event series

Manchester University Press is delighted to announce a new collaboration with independent news outlet The Mill, to launch a new event series available exclusively to their subscribers

These will be ticketed events offered to The Mill’s paying members only, with the audience having the opportunity to ask questions, during and after the event, of MUP authors and The Mill editorial team, in an informal and intellectually stimulating space.

The first three events in the series will take place in early 2023, with the first taking place in March 2023 at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation in Manchester city centre. This first event will see author of 'Manchester Unspun', Manchester-based journalist and author Andy Spinoza, in conversation with The Mill’s Editor Joshi Herrmann. Their conversation will be followed by informal networking and a book signing.

The following events will take place in April and May 2023 respectively, also at the Burgess centre, and will focus on researcher Tom Haines-Doran’s recent book, 'Derailed: How to fix Britain’s broken railways', and poet and broadcaster David Scott’s 'Mancunians'.

The Mill's Editor Joshi Herrmann added: “We’re really excited to be putting on this events series with the brilliant Manchester University Press. The events will give our members a chance to hear from some of the city’s most interesting writers on stage and also hear from The Mill’s team about big stories we have worked on recently. Ever since we started, our members have been asking us to organise more in-person meetups so that they can meet each other and have more contact with our team, and we’re grateful to MUP for giving us a chance to do that.”
