Final reminder: confirm availability to teach if applicable for 2023/4 timetable

The deadlines to complete the existing Flexible Working Arrangement (FWA) survey or to complete an application for a Teaching Availability Arrangement (TAA) are midnight on Tuesday 28 February 2023.

A reminder that timeslots allocated to classes or individuals in the previous year’s timetable will no longer be automatically rolled forward from one year to the next. This means, if there are any constraints on your availability that need factoring into the timetable, these need to be either recognised by a formalised FWA, or requested by completing a TAA application.

No action is required if: 

  • You have already applied for a TAA, completed the FWA survey, or decided you do not need to do either; 
  • You are retiring before the 2023/24 academic year; 
  • You are on sabbatical for the 2023/24 academic year - unless you have an existing FWA that would need to be accounted for in 2024/25, then you need to complete this survey; 
  • You are bought out for research for the 2023/24 academic year.

  • Confirm an existing Flexible Working Arrangement by completing this survey by Tuesday 28 February 2023. 
  • Apply for a Teaching Availability Arrangement by completing this form by Tuesday 28 February 2023. 

It is important to formalise existing FWAs by the deadline specified; as contractual agreements we need to make sure they are factored into your timetable. Remember, you can apply for a new Flexible Working Arrangement at any time in the year, but the Teaching Availability Arrangement application process will only take place annually; once it closes on 28 February 2023, it will not reopen again until early 2024.
