Small number of students occupying University buildings

Overnight a small number of individuals have gained unauthorised access to some parts of three University-owned buildings, MECD, Samuel Alexander Building and the John Owens Building

A high priority for us is the health and safety of those people who are currently occupying the buildings.

We are aware of some doors and entrances being barricaded and locked and are emphasising our concerns for their safety in the event of an emergency incident.

The normal work of the University is continuing and we will obviously monitor the situation carefully.

Details of any changes to teaching or learning that may result from any of this unauthorised access will be communicated to staff and students locally.
