Share your ideas for our bicentenary celebrations in 2024 at our first in-person University-wide session for colleagues on Monday (13 February).

During this interactive session with designers Creative Concern, we will be asking for your thoughts on our 200th year events and activities and which Manchester discoveries, people and impact that you believe we should be highlighting.

You’ll use the collaborative tool Mural to add stick it notes to a board using your laptop or mobile – while meeting colleagues from across the campus.

Director of Communications, Marketing and Student Recruitment, Claire Brown said: “Collaboration lies at the heart of our community so we’re asking staff, students, alumni and stakeholders to help shape our bicentenary plans.

“We want you to think creatively about the discoveries, people and impact we’ve had over our 200-year history and the values that make us feel proud to belong at Manchester.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment to celebrate our key discoveries and world firsts while continuing to look to the future and addressing our world’s big challenges right now – the Manchester way.”

Share your ideas

Monday’s session is the first of a series in February and March 2023, offering colleagues the chance to learn more about our bicentenary plans, discuss the University’s rich and diverse heritage, and share ideas on how to get involved and celebrate.

There are four University-wide meetings – as well as sessions in Faculties and local areas. With some sessions taking place early afternoon, staff are welcome to bring along their lunch or a refreshment.

Ideas from these sessions will be collected and reviewed by both the University and Faculty Bicentenary Delivery Groups, helping shape and support events and activities in our 200th year.
