We need your ideas to shape the University’s bicentenary celebrations
The University of Manchester is a phenomenal, world-changing institution. Next year we will celebrate our bicentenary: 200 years of brilliant discoveries, education and social impact that have shaped the modern world.
This is a moment to celebrate our key discoveries and world firsts, while continuing to look forwards and outwards. The world’s big challenges demand urgent action now and we’re working across boundaries and disciplines to create healthier, more equal futures and to protect our planet.
Most importantly, we’ll reflect on our impact and recognise the achievements of our people – our staff, students, alumni and partners – at a local, national and international level.
And we need you to help us do this.
Share your ideas
Collaboration lies at the heart of our community so we’re asking staff, students, alumni and stakeholders to help shape our bicentenary plans.
We want you to think creatively about the discoveries, people and impact we’ve had over our 200 year history and the values that make us feel proud to belong at Manchester.
We’re holding a number of sessions for colleagues in February and March 2023, offering the chance to learn more about our bicentenary plans, discuss the University’s rich and diverse heritage and share how you would like to get involved and celebrate.
These include four University-wide meetings – as well as sessions in Faculties and local areas.
Ideas from these sessions will be collected and reviewed by both the University and Faculty Bicentenary Delivery Groups, helping shape and support events and activities in our 200th year.
