StellarHE is a leadership development programme for Black, Asian, and ethnically diverse individuals in higher education
Our University is pleased to support this programme. This programme has been designed specifically to develop and implement leadership strategies that reflect the unique challenges and experiences of Black, Asian, and ethnically diverse academic and professional staff across higher education.
StellarHE is targeted at Black, Asian and ethnically diverse individuals who aspire to senior leadership positions in higher education. The programme has been designed specifically to equip participants with leadership competencies and strategies that reflect the unique challenges and experiences of Black, Asian, and ethnically diverse staff across the HE sectors.
Who is eligible?
The programme is open to Black, Asian, and ethnically diverse Professional Support staff, Academics and Researchers at a middle to senior management level. All applicants should have the support of their Line Manager as their support and involvement will be critical to the programme.
How many places are available?
The University will support two places per Faculty and two per Professional Services, totalling in eight.
What is the time commitment?
Applicants must be ready to embark on an experiential virtual leadership programme and available to participate in all activities during the programme.

M1 – Orientation & My Leadership Journey - 20th March 2023
M2 - Race Strategic Context in HE - 3rd April 2023
M3 – Authentic Leadership,Identity and Race - 18th April 2023
M4 – Leadership Purpose & Vision - 4th May 2023
Action Learning and Assessments – Factor8 & Borderless Coaching April / May 2023
M5 – Status Now - Leadership MoT 29th May 2023
M6 – iLead 360 - Cracking the corporate Code 12th June 2023
Action Learning June / July 2023
M7– Presence - iBrand & Communicating with Impact 12th July 2023*
M8 – Career Strategy and Leaderships Signature 13th July 2023*
Coaching September 2023
All the workshops are virtual apart from those annotated.
The programme also includes access to an Online Learning Platform that contains exercises, activities, and other learning materials to be completed prior to each workshop.
Applicants must have the support of their manager to apply and attend. This can be submitted via our Line Managers Endorsement Form
NB: Managers or Sponsors will be required to attend the Managers Race to Action Session on 17th March 2023.
How to apply:
Applications should be submitted using the StellarHE Application Form 2023 by Monday 16th January 2023. The applications will then be shortlisted against the criteria and put forward for consideration to the Diversity Practice, StellarHE organisers.
