A collection of artwork will be auctioned in November in aid of Maggie's Manchester
On Thursday, 10 November, a very special collection of unique paintings will go on display at The Whitworth. The subsequent sale of the ‘Bee There for Maggie’s’ collection by artist Justin Eagleton will raise money for Maggie’s Manchester to support people living with cancer.
Each piece within the collection has a unique bee-themed name, bringing together areas of Manchester’s vibrant history, culture and community.
The artwork 'Bee-lieve' celebrates the innovation and scientific breakthroughs that have been achieved in Manchester. Professor Emma Crosbie was chosen to feature in the piece, alongside other remarkable scientists including Professor Gareth Evans, Professor Brian Cox and Nobel Prize winners Professor Andre Geim and Professor Kostya Novoselov.
Professor Crosbie specialises in the screening, prevention and early diagnosis of gynaecological cancers and her work particularly resonated with the charity Maggie's Manchester. Emma (pictured above) said she was 'thrilled' to be recognised.
Following a short exhibition, nine of the pieces will be auctioned to raise funds for the Maggie's Manchester centre, which is situated next to The Christie.
