Public Realm Works - Temporary revisions to pedestrian routes

26 Jun 2007

No direct access between Oxford Road and Bridgeford Street from 2 July

Works to the Public Realm project are currently progressing around campus and in order to move safely into the next area of works, it will be necessary to put some temporary access restrictions in place.

During the week commencing 2 July, the contractor will progress works to Bridgeford Street. To facilitate these works and in the interests of health and safety for staff, students and visitors, the contractor will erect security fencing to enclose his work areas between Oxford Road and the East elevation of the Architecture building. This area will not be accessible for a period of four to six weeks. Emergency escape routes from all buildings in this area will be maintained and directional signage will reflect the current status. The current arrangements with regard to deliveries to the Museum and waste collection in the area will be maintained.

The new footpath within Tuer Place, that provides a pedestrian route from Oxford Road to the new multi-storey car park and Coupland Street, can be used as an alternative route during these works. Directional signage will be in place to assist with these arrangements.

The Capital Projects Group would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any short term inconvenience this may cause and would request that directional signs and health and safety guidance provided by the contractor are strictly adhered to at all times.
