Climate questions campaign wins prestigious marketing award
28 Sep 2022
Colleagues from the Directorate of Communications, Marketing and Student Recruitment accepted the award for Best Social Purpose Campaign at the Prolific North Marketing Awards
Our entry focused on our Climate Questions campaign, which communicated how we’re tackling climate change and sharing our knowledge to empower positive action – and was timed to coincide with COP26 in Glasgow last autumn. The COP26 summit brought parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Alongside a range of advertising and media activity, the centrepiece of the campaign was the Manchester Festival of Climate Action – a four-day conference of agenda-setting talks attended by 1,750 industry and policymaker delegates, as well as more than 60 of our own academics.
At the campaign’s heart was direct access. Uniquely, we made all our climate experts available. Whether it was online or in real life, stakeholders could access insight from those in the know.
Head of University Marketing Andy Simmons said: “The project was a great example of collaborative working from a whole range of colleagues across communications and marketing, but special mention should go to Jo D’Angelo, Marketing Manager for the Energy Beacon in FSE, who came up with the concept and led on its delivery. Alongside Jo, I’d like to thank my many colleagues, in our Directorate and in Faculties, who helped make the campaign a success.”
