Carrying over annual leave into 2022/2023
25 Aug 2022
A message from Adèle MacKinlay, Director of People and Organisational Development
Dear colleagues
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had arrangements in place to enable colleagues to carry over additional days of annual leave into the next leave year, instead of the usual five days.
We are all working incredibly hard; however, it’s so important that we all take time out to properly rest and disconnect completely from work while we’re on annual leave. This is fundamentally important to our health and wellbeing. Please make sure you use your annual leave every year.
However, we recognise that sometimes it’s just not possible, so as we enter the 2022/23 annual leave year which starts on 1 October, it’s been agreed that we can carry over up to eight days of annual leave. You should talk to your manager about any annual leave you wish to carry over to ensure everyone is happy with the leave arrangements you have in place.
You can work out how much annual leave you’re able to take by using our annual leave calculator** which has been updated to include the recently-announced closure day on Tuesday, 30 August.
Thank you for everything that you do – I know everyone is working incredibly hard to give our new and returning students an amazing welcome and experience.
Best wishes
Adèle MacKinlay, Director of People and Organisational Development
** Please note the online annual leave calculator is not compatible with UMC Ltd contracts.
