British-born native English speakers sought for two experimental studies
We are currently running two experimental studies in the School of Psychological Sciences (Coupland Building 1) and are in urgent need of participants. Both studies investigate how people communicate and understand each other in conversation.
Each participant will be paired up with another participant to talk about either a number of video clips (showing everyday events and actions), or displays of various geometrical objects. The experimenter will evaluate the communication by assessing your knowledge of the videos/accuracy of the drawings of the figure arrangements. (For the purpose of analysis, the experiments will be video recorded.)
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST BE A BRITISH BORN NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER (unfortunately we can NOT test people with speech impairments).
- Experiment 1: lasts 60 minutes, £7 compensation
- Experiment 2: lasts 50 minutes, £5 compensation
You can take part in either one or in both studies, given that you have not taken part in the respective studies beforehand. Both experiments take place in the Psychology Department, Coupland Building 1.
If you are interested in taking part please reply to:
- Melanie Lamb at: psyexp-communication@manchester.ac.uk
Your participation will be greatly appreciated.
The projects have been approved by the School of Psychological Sciences Ethics Committee (ref. 118/05 + 327/05).
